Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026 · Effective for toolzep.com
The short version: our tools process your data in your browser. We do not upload, read or store the text, files or numbers you put into them. We do run standard website infrastructure that logs technical request data, and we use privacy-friendly analytics. The details follow.
1. Who we are
Toolzep (“we”, “us”) operates the website at https://toolzep.com. You can reach us at hello@toolzep.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to visitors in the United States and worldwide, including where stricter local laws (such as GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) grant you additional rights — we honor those rights for everyone.
2. Information our tools process — and where
Client-side processing (the default for all 546 tools). Word counters, JSON formatters, calculators, converters, password generators, image/PDF processors and every other tool marked “runs in your browser” execute entirely on your device. The text, files and values you enter never leave your browser, are never transmitted to us, and are never seen by our servers. When you close or refresh the page, that data is gone.
Tools that make a live request. A handful of tools need current information from the outside world. The currency converter fetches exchange rates, the IP lookup tools query a public IP API, and the MAC vendor lookup queries a public registry. In each case the request comes from your browser directly to the third-party API — not through our servers — and the tool says so on the page. Your inputs to those tools (other than the lookup value itself) remain local.
Local storage. Two tools keep state on your device to be useful: the Online Notepad (your notes) and tool preferences. This uses your browser’s localStorage, which you can clear at any time in your browser settings. We never read it server-side.
3. Information our servers automatically receive
Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure records standard technical logs for security and operations: your IP address (truncated where technically feasible), browser type, referring page, pages requested, and timestamps. These logs exist to defend against abuse and diagnose outages; they are retained for a short, fixed period and are not used to profile you. If you use our contact or newsletter forms, we additionally store the information you submit there — see section 5.
4. Analytics
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count page views and understand which tools are useful. This analytics cannot identify you across other websites. We do not run session-recording, heat-mapping or cross-site tracking of any kind.
5. Forms — contact and newsletter
If you contact us or subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address and message for the sole purpose of replying or sending the newsletter you asked for. Newsletters include one-click unsubscribe links that work immediately. We never sell or share these addresses, and we do not send unrelated marketing.
6. Advertising
The site displays advertising to fund its operation. Advertising on toolzep.com is served by Google AdSense and other partners. These vendors may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, including personalized ads where you have consented or where law allows without consent. You can control this:
Your ad choices: Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) let you review and turn off personalization; opt-out browser plugins (networkadvertising.org/choices and youradchoices.com) work across many vendors. Where required by law (EEA, UK, Switzerland, California), we request consent through a consent banner before non-essential cookies load, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time via our Cookie Policy.
Advertising partners may process data outside your country. Google’s role and your rights under GDPR are described in Google’s Privacy & Terms (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
7. Children
Toolzep is a general-audience utility site; it is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted personal information via our forms, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Because almost all processing on this site happens client-side, in most cases we hold nothing about you beyond short-lived technical logs. To exercise any right, email hello@toolzep.com — we respond within 30 days.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because tools run in your browser, the strongest security boundary on this site is architectural: your data is not on our servers to leak. The data we do hold (form submissions) is stored in an access-controlled database with minimal retention.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change and post the new version here with an updated date. Material changes (for example, a new data category) will be highlighted on this page for at least 30 days.
11. Contact
Privacy questions, data requests or concerns: hello@toolzep.com or the contact form.
